Welcome to Mr. Clever Fox

Aug 9, 2020

There are a few different ways to save money in this world. You can make a budget to control your spending, you can work to earn more money in the first place, and you can become a more savvy shopper, looking for ways to spend less on the things you need. I’m here to help you do that.

I wholeheartedly believe that a penny saved is a penny earned, and an hour spent saving a few hundred dollars makes just as much difference to your financial well-being as a day’s paycheck. In the modern shopping experience, there are a lot of ways to go about saving money, such as:

  • Strategies to employ, like knowing when and how to look at used items instead of paying full price for new
  • Money-saving offers to stay on top of, like following up on rebates and incentives (often made intentionally difficult)
  • Tricks to play, like knowing when to re-buy or re-book something to “un-spend” your money
  • The complex world of points, rewards, and credit card schemes

These are puzzles, and I am a puzzle solver. I’ve always taken delight in working out how to get a great deal for myself or for friends and family. I’m the kind of person who books a rental car and then keeps wondering (and checking) if the price improved, who gets excited at saving $40 on a pair of shoes because it’s an open box, and who finds a great deal on a cell phone plan and then wants everyone to know about it.

Like a clever fox finding his way into the hen house, there is a lot you can do to keep more money in your pocket. I’m here to share some personal stories and some of the strategies, tips, and tricks I’ve figured out over the years. I’m excited to build a community with others who enjoy chasing savings.

Let’s get started!
